Slumdog....millionaire indeed

We finally got the chance to catch the movie which is dominating pretty much every award ceremony these days. Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe and has as many as 10 Oscar nominations. We had the option of choosing the hindi version slumdog crorepati..but we decided to stick to the original english one.
We never found a hollywood production so bollywoodish. A typical masala story with some genius work on Screenplay, editing and direction. A simple scene like two children escaping and jumping on a train, would have just felt like a ususal scene in any bollywood movie but it felt different in this one. Going by my wife's words, it actually showed what the world wants to see about india, not a dreamworld created by Karan Johar :)
Another hint of genius was music and background score. A.R.Rahman is setting standards to scary heights now :). Dilli 6 is going to prove it again!!
Reuse of tracks like paper planes and aaj ki raat have been thoughtful. Aaj ki raat finally got its due i would say :)

I won't be surprised if this scores big on Oscars too!!
